Sofia was the first Senior Fellow leading the Development Programme within the Humanitarian Dimension. She contributes with facts and analysis in the humanitarian and development fields to establish effective policies in crisis response and to address structural challanges. She is now a Honorary Member of CYIS.

Background
Sofia's research focuses on sustainable livelihoods, alternative development strategies and relations between China and its Southeast Asian neighbors.
She is currently a Blue Book trainee at the European Commission, working in the Directorate-General for International Development and Cooperation (DEVCO).
Prior to DEVCO, she worked as research assistant for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) in Myanmar, where she was involved in a sustainable livelihood program that supported the transition from illicit to licit crops cultivation.
Sofia holds a MA in China Studies from the Yenching Academy of Peking University, where she wrote a thesis on the comparison between alternative development strategies as operated by the UN and China in northern Myanmar.
