Background

Staffan’s main research interests include environmental policy in the EU, energy security, and European integration. He is currently a trainee at the EEAS, Western Europe Division, dealing with the EU’s relations with EEA EFTA states and small states in Europe. 

He holds a Master’s Degree in International and European Relations and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science. He wrote his master’s thesis on how the EU Global Strategy was drafted and how elements of liberal intergovernmentalism and neofunctionalism may be derived from the policy-making phase of the strategy. 

Staffan has previously been an intern at the Europe Programme of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI) and at the European Correspondent’s Office, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden.
