Freya is a final year Politics and History undergraduate at LSE, where she has spent her time tailoring her degree to specialising in colonial history (in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean), aspects of political science (democratisation, comparative politics, public policy) and social policy (sexuality in the Global South, NGOs and development). These combined subject areas led her to pursue further study in the field of International Development, and she will begin her MSc in Development Studies at LSE in September 2022.   At CYIS she focuses her research on gender-related issues, having written on reproductive rights in Poland and the realities of economic empowerment initiatives to solve gender-based violence. She also works as a research intern outside of CYIS, where she has worked on reports on women's economic situation in Uganda, the education and welfare of women and girls in Kazakhstan, and the integration of migrants into their new communities in Poland and Slovenia. She is particularly passionate about women's economic inclusion and uplift in society, and is trained in mentoring, outcomes and trauma-informed awareness.
