Georgios C. Kostaras is the Director of the Politico-Military Dimension. He leads the Politico-Military Dimension which contributes with insights and clarity on international security threats.

Background

Georgios C. Kostaras holds a Master's Degree in International Security with specialization in African Studies and Diplomacy from SciencesPo Paris and a Bachelor Degree in Political Sciences from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.   


He has previously worked as an MEP Trainee in the European Parliament, the Permanent Representation of Greece to the O.S.C.E, the D1 Directorate for the UN & International Organizations and Conferences of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is concurrently conducting his research internship in the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP).  


His research focus is associated with both a regional and thematic cognizance and includes the nexus between political fragmentation and conflict, the geopolitics of energy and especially the concept of the resource curse, peacebuilding and peacekeeping, defense policies and terrorism.  


Among the main priorities in his position at CYIS, are the linkage between regional and thematic issues and the restructuring of the Dimension's philosophy and research outreach.
