Katja-Elisabeth is a very enthusiastic incoming research analyst with a background in Transatlantic Affairs from the College of Europe (Warsaw, Poland). Additionally, Katja-Elisabeth holds a BA in International Relations and International Organizations which she combined with a degree in International and European Law from the University of Groningen. During her undergraduate studies, her main focus explored the nexus between technology and law in the European Union.   

She has a strong passion for the study and exploration of Transatlantic Security and Defence affairs focusing on cybersecurity, emerging and disrupting technologies and crisis management. Additionally, she is especially interested in, and currently working on, the intersection between cyber warfare and cybersecurity in the evolving security context within Central and Eastern Europe.     

During her academic years, Katja-Elisabeth participated as a board member in multiple student associations including ELSA Groningen, CLIO and the Ten Behoeve van Rechtestudented (TBR) where she contributed to the improvement of the academic programmes at the University of Groningen and the overall academic and social development of the student community. In between, she pursued an internship at the Mexican Embassy in Berlin, Germany where she assisted the legal department. More recently, she volunteered at the Warsaw Security Forum (WSF) 2021 hosted in Poland and has plans to do so again in Germany as the host country for the WFS 2022 edition.    

Katja-Elisabeth is originally from México but holds an additional nationality from Germany.
