Rebecca holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from the University of Portsmouth. She specialised in African American civil rights and culture over the last 150 years, the rise and fall of the 'pink tide' in Latin America and transitional justice and human rights in countries who have gone through turbulent periods of war and genocide to transformational change. Her dissertation focussed on the impact of immigrants and other impactful persons when creating legislation at state-level.  Rebecca is currently completing a Masters in Public Policy and Public Management at the University of East Anglia, focusing on policy creation, data analysis using R, free speech and intercultural communication and conflict. She has just finished conducting a research project with the Politics, Philosophy and Languages school, exploring student experience, focussing on under-represented groups. Rebecca previously worked at the Human Rights Campaign in Washington D.C., involved in outreaching in fundraising through different methods such as estate planning and corporate relations. She additionally volunteered for phone banking and canvassing for organisation-backed candidates both out in D.C. and in the UK. Her previous role before undertaking her Masters was working in a non-profit housing organisation.
